Apple: FREE Camp for Kids!

Apple stores are hosting FREE Apple Camp for kids ages 8-12 throughout this summer! This FREE camp lasts 1 1/2 hours per day on 3 separate days and is available at Apple Retail Stores throughout the country.

Space is limited and workshops fill up quickly so sign your kids up now. Just click here to find an Apple Camp and then select the week you would like to sign up for (each child is limited to no more than one Apple Camp workshop). Note that a parent must stay with child(ren) during Apple Camp.

Emagine Theaters: FREE Summer Movies for Kids!

Starting in June, Emagine Theaters will host FREE kids films on Wednesdays and Saturdays! Admission is free for children 11 and under and is just $2 for guests 12 and up. Tickets available at the box office only.

Saline Rec Center: 25th Anniversary Celebration {06/12/16}

Sunday, June 12 from 1-4pm at the Saline Rec Center

On Sunday, June 12, 2016 the Saline Rec Center will be celebrating its 25th anniversay  from 1-4pm. A special ceremony will be held at 1 pm then the doors will open for the event. Bouncers, music, cake, hotdogs, swimming, fun and games will be offered FREE for the entire community! FREE Parkridge Summer Fest this Saturday! {08/23/14}

Washtenaw County is partnering with the Parkridge Summer Festival Committee to host a FREE Summer Fest this Saturday, 08/23/14 from 11 am – 6 pm. The event will take place at Parkridge Park adjacent to Perry Child Development Center in Ypsilanti, MI. There will be FREE food, kids games, live entertainment, various vendors and more! Non-profit agencies as well as DTE Energy, Comcast Cable and KeyBank will be on hand between 12 and 4 pm to provide information and resources.

July 4th Celebrations!

There are several events taking place throughout the Washtenaw County are to celebrate Independence Day! Below are just a few:

Hudson Mills FireworksThursday, 07/03/14, Dusk (10-10:30 pm)
Near Dexter/Ann Arbor. Tony Vasquez’s DJ Service will provide music from 7-11 pm at the Activity Center with a break for fireworks at 10 pm. Food items such as cotton candy, caramel apples, elephant ears, Bearclaw Coffee, pizza, hot dogs, burgers and popcorn will be available for purchase, as well as’ novelty glow products. There is a $10 special event daily vehicle permit required after 5 pm; free admission with annual permit. Park staff recommends arriving early; the park tends to hit capacity by 9 pm. Manchester Fireworks Display Thursday, 07/03/14 (10-10:30 pm)

The Manchester Men’s Club sponsors this annual display, which usually brightens up the night sky at 10:15 p.m.

Ann Arbor Fourth of July ParadeFriday, 07/04/14, 10 am

  • Downtown Ann Arbor (State, Liberty, Main, and William St). The route is approximately 1 mile long and begins at the intersection of State Street and William Street.

Ypsilanti Independence Day Parade – Friday, 07/04/14, 11 am
The parade will begin at the corner of Oakwood and Cross and end at Rice Street in Ypsilanti’s Historic Depot Town.

In its 55th year, this family-friendly fireworks display and parade, sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Whitmore Lake and other members of the community, is a great celebration. With live music, games, activities and fun floats, there are plenty of ways to occupy the whole family. This year’s parade theme is “Whitmore Lake Salutes America.”

FREE Rolling Hills Youth Day Event {07/15/14}

Rolling Hills is having a FREE Youth Day on Tuesday, 07/15/14 from 11 am – 3 pm! All youth ages 13 – 17 are welcome to attend this FREE event!*

* Important Note: Pre-registration is required by 07/11/14 to receive FREE passes for this event.

This is an annual event hosted by Washtenaw Area Teens for Tomorrow (WATT) in conjunction with Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation and Teen Center Without Walls (TCW2). It is completely FREE to all high school aged youth through out the county who pre-register. There will be games, food, and much more! Keep in mind that youth will need to complete a “passport” by visiting with youth-serving agencies that will have valuable information for teens before receive a water park pass. FREE 2-Day Camp 9-1-1 for Children ages 8-12

Huron Valley Ambulance is offering a FREE 2-day camp to kids ages 8-12 that are interested in learning about emergency services and safety. The program is taught by local EMTs and teaches kids how to perform lifesaving skills on injured victims, including CPR! Programming runs 9 am – 4:30 pm for each of the two days.

Locations of the day-camp are held throughout Washtenaw County all summer long, so there are many opportunities to sign your kid(s) up. For more information on the camp or service provided by Huron Valley Ambulance, visit the HVA website. These fill up quickly so don’t wait to register! The remaining dates and locations of Camp 9-1-1 are as follows:

FREE Movies at the Park!

Three FREE movies will be shown at Mill Pond Park (565 W. Bennett Street in Saline) this summer on a giant inflatable screen! Go as early as 6:30 pm to enjoy an inflatable obstacle course and bouncer, pre-show music, the playground, sponsor activity area, games and more! The movies begin at dusk (around 9:30 pm). The events are FREE but you can purchase concessions for the movie.

Ann Arbor YMCA: Healthy Kids Day {05/17/14}

On Saturday, May 17, 2014 the Ann Arbor YMCA will present Healthy Kids Day®: a FREE community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active all summer long. The event will be held at Adams Elementary School and Prospect Park in Ypsilanti, 503 Oak Street, Ypsilanti, MI 48197 from 9:30a- 12:30p. Several community organizations will be partnering with the Y to make a morning of active fun, including Growing Hope, Common Cycle, Ypsilanti Library, UM Soccer Team, Safe Kids Washtenaw County and Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society.
